I think it’s a very interesting study to see the self-portraits of artists in motion like this. The morphing affect seems to suggest them moving through the different phases of their lives through the ‘signposts’ of their artistic work. With Rembrandt you see more of his physical metamorphosis and emotional landscape. With Van Gogh you see stylistic changes, and with Kahlo we see her image moving through her personal iconography.
