bruce labruceThese images (below) were taken by Bruce Labruce in 2006 after a series of surgical complications left me without a left breast implant for six months. (It has since been replaced.)

These photos have been published in art/culture magazines in Rome, Berlin, Amsterdam and Australia. They have also been exhibited in art galleries, the lobby of Circa nightclub and numerous ongoing articles internationally about the queer art phenomenon that is Bruce Labruce.

On Feb 2nd, I blogged about another image from this series, titled Transformation, which I consider to be the central piece in this series.

I was aware of LaBruce’s work before I did these photos with him. This shoot was an attempt for me to come to come to terms with my embodiment through his aesthetic iconography.

I was also working with the image of Penthesilea, the mythological Queen of the Amazons who cut off one of her breasts to better fire a bow.
